Around Town: Exhibit Ale

If you haven't experienced a growler shop, it's time to check out the best way to try craft beer.

We are lucky to have Exhibit Ale just down the road from us. It's becoming a little bit of a weekly tradition for us to go down on Friday night and sample what's new, get our fills and hang out with Jessie and Jessica, the awesome owners.

So here is how it works. You go in, choose your beer, buy a jug, and leave with your yummies. Okay maybe that was too simple. The growler shop works like this. They have a number of beers and ciders on tap. Exhibit Ale has 30 taps. Most are beers, but they usually have at least 1 cider available for people like me who don't really like beer. Jessie, the genius that he is, got the Lawrenceville city council to pass a bill that allows you to buy 4 samples a day for $5 (or 1 for $1.50 but since this is the Mrs. Shopswell blog, you know I am going to tell you that 4 for $5 is a better deal.)

Before you start with the, "Why would I need any samples?" line, here's the thing, you are about to buy 32 or 64ozs of beer you may have never tasted. I'm not that big into gambling with my taste buds. What happens when you hate it?

Once you do decide what you want, you choose either 32 or 64 ozs. That will determine what growler you are going home with. You will be buying the bottle, but in reality, you are just putting a deposit down on it. If you don't want it any more or never plan on going back, you can always return it for your money back. Trust me once you see the growler light, this won't be happening, but I digress. After its filled, they seal it all up and send you out home to start enjoying every last drop.

We love it. They know our names, remember our favorite selections and even know how old Mathilda is week to week. I love when shop owners go the extra mile to really get to know their customers. It keeps me coming back week after week. Just make sure there is always a cider on tap!

 So one of the best parts of my pregnancy ended up being my "Birth Month Board" or BMB. Basically, (I plan to talk about them more in the future), we are just a group of women online, who were all pregnant and due in July. Over the months, we became really close and, honestly, true friends. 

Today a few that were local to me decided to get together and meet IRL for the first time. We had a lot of fun at a pumpkin patch. 

Tilly LOVED the hay ride. She laughed and cooed the whole time. I can't wait until she's a little older to really enjoy the ride!

Wordless Wednesdays

Welcome to Mamaland and the 21st century

Well its time for me to blog again. Mathilda is here. She is the most amazing gift and I want to share her with you. She arrived a little early and we can't be any more happy about everything about her!

With her arrived a need for a different way to reach the online world. We aren't a smartphone or iPhone family, so I ended up getting a handy little tablet to use while breastfeeding. The beauty of it is I'll be able to do a lot more blogging, starting now.

For now we'll start out slow to get back in the habit. I'll be doing wordless Wednesdays and a weekly recap. I hope to start telling you abt my favorite baby products and ways to get a swell deal on them.

I'll be honest that a I thought about abandoning Mrs. Shopswell and starting fresh with a new blog, but I will always be Mrs. Shopswell. I'm just on a new adventure.

 Very, very soon! Since today is induction day, she should be here in the next 48 hrs or less!


Its been a long 9 months and I'm so anxious to meet her and kiss her and love her! Hopefully, I'll be able to use this to tell you about her and all the products that come in handy... but until then, I'll be getting ready to meet our little girl!

Just ordered our "Shower" invites. We aren't, as usual, doing the normal thing. We talked about a regular "girl" shower, but I want to have a big party. So we're having a BBQ/Pool Party. 

My house isn't exactly ready for this, but I'm determined not to let the blogosphere/pinterest make me crazy. Nothing will ever be perfect and I have to accept this. Its my first step to happiness. I want to be able to have people over and enjoy their company without the craziness that goes through my head. 

There are a lot of great bloggers out there that I've just had to stop reading. Its not because I don't love their designs, cause I do, I really, really do.... I just make myself crazy. 

So instead, one Sunday in June, I'm inviting a whole bunch of people over to my house so that we can all celebrate Jellybean! She is the most important thing in our world now!

Register? Schemegister!

So I finally finished our registry for Jellybean! I say finished very loosely. It doesn't seem like you can ever be truly finished. Every time you think you've added the last item, someone suggests the favorite baby product or something you were in love with is out of stock or discontinued.

Jellybean's nursery will have an elephant theme. We chose elephants because JB shares a due date with my Great Grandma, Nana's birthday. Nana and her husband, Papa, lived in India for several years. She loved elephants. Their house was decorated in elephants. When we were kids, every gift or card we ever gave her was decorated with elephants. Of course, I'd choose elephants for our nursery.

Though it has made it a lot easier to find elephant products, elephants are WAY too popular right now. There were so many elephant products that it was easy to find things with elephant exclusive patterns. I didn't have to choose items with an elephant and other animals. I don't think that I am 100% happy about their popularity, but its okay, our elephant nursery will be the funkiest on the block!

I also registered for items like nipple soothers and breast pads. Butt paste and pacifiers. Diaper pails and swaddling blankets. There are almost too many baby items to choose from. I know I didn't add nearly as many items as I could have and I still feel like 80 items is too many. I'm swimming in a sea of registry overload!
